MISSION STATEMENT
We, the members of Covenant Baptist, believe our mission is to obey our Lord's Great Commission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who have to heard of His wonderful Love and Sacrifice.  We want our church to follow the examples of the New Testament churches by growing numerically into a loving fellowship of believers who have experienced God's grace and our members growing spiritually as disciples of Christ.
To achieve this mission we will as a church body strive to provide a pleasant place of worship and prayer.  Opportunities for individual Bible study, discipleship training, and evangelism will be an important part of our ministry.
We, as a church, believe a special emphasis should be placed on reaching our youth, young adults, and families with members who have special needs.  We therefore support the ministries to serve these needs.  We support Christian guidance and counseling services to minister to all people.
Our church will be available as a meeting place for community groups with special ministries based on Christian principles and beliefs.  We will be a mission minded Church with the highest generosity towards the needy and towards our denominational, local, state, national and world mission groups.
We, as a church, will use this mission statement and our Lord's guidance in determining the ministries of Covenant Baptist to reach out and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

HISTORY
During the spring of 1985, Rev. John Poe, Director of Missions for the Theron Rankin Baptist Association led the associational pastors in a survey of Catawba County for areas where new mission work was needed.  The Rock Barn area was targeted for a new church, which sparked a two week tent revival to discover the community interest.  On September 22, 1985 the first organizational service was held at the Associational office.  Four families from different churches accepted the call to help start this new work.  Rev. Homer Brady, the first Pastor, suggested the members choose Covenant Baptist Mission as the name.
In January 1986, after calling Rev. Richard Hall as our new Pastor, we began worshiping at an area business.  Needing a larger facility, we began meeting at the local YMCA before purchasing property on
Rock Barn in March of 1986.  By May of 1987, the final payment was made on the land and a building committee was formed.
The ground breaking service for the new building was held on April 10, 1988.  Through diligent volunteer labor from other churches and the State Brotherhood Department, we were able to move into our new building in June of 1989.
Rev. Sam Mabery accepted the call as Pastor in October 1989.  He was followed by Rev. Peter West and Rev. Ed Samples serving as Interim Pastors until we called Rev. Don Martin as our Pastor in August of  1992.  Covenant Baptist Mission was formally constituted as a church on September 20, 1992.  Rev. Don Martin served as Pastor until December of 2005.  Rev. Edwin Elmore was called as Interim Pastor in June of 2006 and Pastor on April 22 ,2007.
